The Landscape Architecture study program educates students for the planning, design, arrangement, and improvement of open spaces in accordance with the principles of sustainable development, aesthetics, and contemporary social needs. The program integrates knowledge from biological, technical, artistic, and design disciplines, enabling students to understand, analyze, and creatively shape space in harmony with its natural and social context.
The goal of the program is to qualify students for comprehensive planning, design, and management of green spaces for various purposes, ranging from public green areas and urban spaces to natural and protected areas. Special emphasis is placed on enhancing the aesthetic and functional quality of space, landscape revaluation, and mitigating the negative impacts of urban stress on the environment through the application of sustainable development principles.
A large number of design courses ensure the breadth and high quality of education, which serve as the foundation for acquiring the conditions to obtain licenses for independent design and execution, recognized by the Engineering Chamber of Serbia, such as: Licensed Spatial Planner (PP 01-02), Licensed Urban Planner (UP 02-02), Licensed Landscape Architect – Designer (PaP 03), and Licensed Landscape Architecture Contractor (PaI 03-01).
The study program offers an interdisciplinary education that connects science, technology, and art, preparing students for creative and responsible spatial design. The program encourages the development of critical and analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, as well as teamwork, cooperativeness, and communication skills.
Special emphasis is placed on mastering practical skills and applying modern technologies in spatial design and visualization. Students acquire competencies recognized within national, European, and global frameworks, with opportunities for further professional development and involvement in research and development work.
A particular goal of the program is to develop awareness of the importance of continuous education and keeping up with achievements in the profession, especially in the context of sustainable development and responsible spatial management. The study program also develops teamwork abilities and trains students for professional communication, presentation, and argumentative exposition of work results to the professional and wider public.
This is the right choice for those who want to contribute to the improvement of the environment, the quality of life in urban and rural areas, and the sustainable management of natural resources.
Upon graduation, graduated landscape engineers/architects can work in:
- design bureaus and landscape architecture studios,
- public enterprises and institutions for the arrangement and maintenance of green areas,
- urban planning and design institutions (institutes, enterprises, etc.),
- companies specializing in landscape architecture works,
- nature and environmental protection institutions,
- consulting and advisory services,
- research and educational institutions,
- the private sector and private entrepreneurship (bureaus, nurseries, etc.).
The study program also represents an excellent foundation for continuing education at master’s and doctoral studies.
