The Field Crops and Vegetable Crops study program trains students for direct work in production, cultivation of field crops, vegetables, and forage crops, raising the level of yield and product quality while preserving the environment and resources used. The program integrates general education subjects (chemistry, biochemistry, mathematics, statistics) with basic scientific disciplines (botany, meteorology, pedology, microbiology, genetics, plant physiology) to implement acquired knowledge from professional subjects (basics of plant production, seed science, plant breeding, cultivation of cereals and grain legumes, vegetable crops, forage crops, cultivation of industrial crops, irrigation, etc.) under various production conditions.
The goal of the study program is to achieve competencies and academic knowledge and skills in the field of field crops and vegetable crops, i.e., training students for direct work in production and the development of creative engineering abilities, critical and analytical thinking, developing traits for team and project work, communicativeness, and mastering practical skills necessary for professional affirmation.
The study program offers a unique and well-balanced ratio of theoretical learning from various scientific fields and practical knowledge that contribute to students developing analytical abilities and skills necessary for managing modern agricultural systems. This study program ensures easy employment through good communication with various employers and cooperation with the industry, while at the same time providing a good foundation for continuing an academic career or in the food production system. The Field Crops and Vegetable Crops study program is an excellent choice for those who want to dedicate themselves to managing large industrialized food production systems as well as improve their own farm production. The acquired knowledge and skills enable students to successfully overcome the challenges of altered production climatic conditions, ensure efficient resource use, constant technology improvement, and contribute to solving complex challenges in agriculture. Participation in this study program will give students the opportunity to affirm themselves in scientific research work as well as cooperation with other higher education institutions in the country and abroad through projects and mobility. Such a concept provides students with various opportunities for personal development through a mentor relationship with professors, access to modern technologies and research, and orientation towards the real needs of the labor market and global trends.
