SOIL, PLANT AND GENETICS
The name of this graduate academic study program is Soil, Plant and Genetics. The one-year Master’s studies in Soil, Plant and Genetics offer nine modules:
- Soil and Plant Nutrition
- Organic Agriculture
- Field Crop Production
- Vegetable Crop Production
- Forage Crop Production Systems
- Irrigation of Agricultural Crops
- Genetics and Breeding
- Molecules and the Plant
- Climate Change – Adaptation of Crop Production
The academic title acquired upon completion of this study program is Master Agricultural Engineer in the aforementioned modules. The learning outcome is knowledge that enables students to use scientific and professional literature, apply knowledge to solve problems arising in the profession, and prepare for further studies (doctoral studies). The engineering profile or study program Soil, Plant and Genetics is designed based on monitoring the latest achievements in crop production, utilizing domestic and foreign experiences in order to achieve high and stable yields, high quality, while respecting the basic principles of sustainability and environmental protection.
Why enroll in the SOIL, PLANT AND GENETICS study program?
The purpose of the Soil, Plant and Genetics study program is to educate students for the profession of graduate engineer – master, in accordance with the needs of the profession and science, including the ecological interests of current and future generations, with the aim of producing high-quality and safe food for personal needs and export, generating profit, and protecting the environment. The Faculty has defined graduate master tasks and objectives in order to educate highly competent personnel in the field of agriculture through nine different modules. The study program is designed so that, depending on the module, it ensures the acquisition of competencies and qualifications in the fields of: soil and plant nutrition, genetics and breeding, organic agriculture, field crop, vegetable, and forage crop production, irrigation, global climate change and adaptation of crop production, and the molecular foundations of processes taking place in the soil, plant, and environment during agricultural production. The purpose of the study program is in accordance with the graduate master tasks and objectives of the Faculty. By implementing a study program conceived in this way, graduate master engineers who possess competencies within European and global frameworks are educated.
