Student Parliament

The Student Parliament is a body of the Faculty which, in accordance with the Law on Student Organizing, the Law on Higher Education, and the Statute of the Faculty, ensures that students exercise their rights at the Faculty, protect their interests at the Faculty, participate in making important decisions related to their studies, organize cultural, educational, and humanitarian events, and have a guaranteed freedom of thought and expression. The Student Parliament consists of 15 members elected by secret and direct ballot, regulated by the Rules on Conducting Elections for the Student Parliament. At the constitutive session, the president, vice-president of the Student Parliament, coordinators, and members of specific departments are elected. The fifteen students who make up the Student Parliament of the Faculty of Agriculture elect a student vice-dean from among the student body in accordance with the Faculty Statute.
Any issues in the student-Faculty relationship and vice versa are resolved through the active participation of the Parliament. Its members have the obligation to stay up to date, informed, and familiar with all current, essential matters and the task of helping to resolve them. In addition to solving working tasks, the Parliament’s role is to engage in organizing the cultural, social, and sports life of students.

Within the Student Parliament, five departments have been formed. Each department actively monitors current issues within its field, deals with informing students and providing feedback to the Faculty, tracks achievements and results obtained, and strives to bridge the needs of students and the demands of the wider community. Through its elected representative (coordinator), each department endeavors to bring the issues, needs, and opportunities from the field it represents closer to the students and guide them on how to use, explore, and achieve personal growth in that specific area.
Department for Science, Teaching, and Student Affairs
The Department for Science, Teaching, and Student Affairs aims to monitor and improve student standards. Through this department, the Student Parliament attempts to influence the improvement of the conditions in which the students of the Faculty of Agriculture live and study, and additionally serves to monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching at the Faculty. Through various surveys and questionnaires, this department collects, processes, and, based on the results, evaluates all issues related to teaching activities and acts in accordance with the applicable acts of the Faculty and the state.
Department for Inter-Faculty and International Cooperation
The Department for Inter-Faculty and International Cooperation encompasses all forms of cooperation with local, state, and other higher education institutions. Additionally, some of its activities include student exchanges, organizing various guest lectures by renowned professors, and concluding business and cooperation agreements between students and professors.
Department for Project Activities
The Department for Project Activities has the obligation to implement all proposals from other departments into practice, should the need arise.
In addition to this function, the department organizes various events and activities at the faculty.
Department for Culture and Non-Formal Education
This type of department arose from the need to generate awareness among students about the necessity of cultural enrichment. The parliament informs students about most cultural events in Novi Sad and the wider surrounding area. Students are encouraged in various ways to visit theaters, cinemas, educational seminars, cultural manifestations, as well as entertainment events.
Department for Sports
A significant part of the Student Parliament of the Faculty of Agriculture’s activities is aimed at promoting sports among students. The results of competitions at the University level and at regional agricultural sports games, at the popular Agronimijada, are indicators that sports are given great importance.
Aside from the competitive nature of our sports teams, there is also a humanitarian character. Proof of this is the participation of our teams in humanitarian tournaments such as “Sports Days” and “Sports Against Drugs.” The bright side of these gatherings is also the promotion of fair play and mutual friendship. Coordinated by the sports department, the “Agroleague” (indoor soccer competition) is active.
Activities of the Student Parliament
The role of the Student Parliament is to present the work, needs, and achievements of its faculty to the wider community, both at the national and international levels. Through organized forms of cooperation with faculties from other countries, not only our faculty is promoted, but also the broader overall culture and tradition of our country. The largest form of student cooperation with other faculties at the international level is the organization of the review of scientific papers. This is a project that gathers a large number of faculties and students from beyond our country’s borders. Through the exchange of experiences and the presentation of historical and cultural values, we promote the scientific, cultural, and historical values of our country, bringing them closer to the wider European and global community.

In addition to education, the Parliament strives to elevate the sports, physical, and health culture of students to the highest possible level. The most significant manifestations of the Parliament’s sports life are the Agroleague and continued participation in the Agronomijada – a sports, cultural, and scientific competition of many agricultural faculties, as well as participation in the University League and Euroijada. The winners of our faculty’s football Agroleague, organized by the members of the sports department, represent our faculty at the Agronomijada. The successes of our students are numerous, and for the past three years, we have been the overall winners at the Agronomijadas held in Budva, Ohrid, and Trebinje.
Through various humanitarian actions, the Parliament provides assistance to those who need it most. Alongside material and moral support to vulnerable groups and individuals, the goal of these actions is primarily to deepen compassion and care for others among young people. Within current capabilities, notable actions include voluntary blood donations, humanitarian pancakes, a humanitarian quiz, and the traditional “Candy for Sweets” action, during which students bring sweets that we deliver as New Year’s packages to the Children’s Village, the Home for Children and Youth with Developmental Disabilities, the Drop-in Center, as well as to children in Kosovo and Metohija. We also have good cooperation with the humanitarian organizations “Serbs for Serbs”, “Nurdor”, and “Cap for Handicap”.
