Centers of Excellence

Centers of Excellence bring together researchers from various scientific fields, recognized in the domestic and international scientific community. Through a multidisciplinary approach and international cooperation, the centers connect knowledge and experience in researching complex challenges in agriculture, environmental protection, and health preservation.

The status of a center of excellence is based on top-tier, internationally recognized scientific and professional results achieved over a five-year period, as well as on developed international scientific, technical, and technological cooperation. It is awarded in accordance with the criteria and standards of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development. The Faculty has accredited two centers of excellence.

Center for Disease Vectors and Climate Change Effects within the One Health Concept

The Center of Excellence within the One Health concept operates at the Faculty of Agriculture. The work of the Center is led by Dr. Aleksandra Ignjatović Ćupina, full professor, and her team brings together researchers from the fields of meteorology/climatology, veterinary medicine, ecotoxicology, phytopharmacy, sociology, and medical entomology.

The scientific research work of the Center is focused on studying the connection between climate, the environment, disease vectors, and the health of humans and animals. Research includes monitoring mosquitoes, ticks, and other vectors, assessing the risk of disease spread, and developing environmentally friendly methods for their control. Through interdisciplinary cooperation and the development of early warning systems, the Center contributes to disease prevention and the preservation of human, animal, and environmental health.

Center for Adaptation of Agrarian, Urban, and Forest Ecosystems to Climate Change

The Center of Excellence was established in 2022 as a joint initiative of the Faculty of Agriculture and the Institute of Lowland Forestry and Environment from Novi Sad. The Center was accredited in March of the same year, and its work is led by Dr. Ivana Maksimović, full professor at the Faculty of Agriculture.

The scientific research work of the Center is focused on improving the capacity of agricultural and forest plant species to adapt to existing and expected climate changes. Research includes the development and adaptation of production technological processes, as well as the selection and creation of genotypes more resistant to altered climatic conditions. In this way, the Center contributes to greater stability and sustainability of production and to strengthening ecosystem resilience.
